I love how De’Aaron has made this a family kind of team already! He even mentioned Brad!
So, the video of Laremy Tunsil smoking from a gas mask bong was just the tip of the iceberg last night. What should have been the greatest day in this kid’s life turned into a nightmare that he could never wake up from. The gas mask video hit the internet at 7:47 and the draft started at 8! Someone very malicious (ex-girlfriend maybe??) wanted to see Laremy suffer and that he did!
Later in the night his instagram gets hacked and messages concerning a coach giving him money to pay his and his Mom’s bills surface. First, I think it’s absurd that these kids can’t capitalize on their “image” until they are no longer under the NCAA flag. I know the NCAA has rules like that in place so that their is no competitive advantage but they make a heap of money of these kids and to say they have to struggle to pay bills while the CEO’s are out playing golf on some beautiful island somewhere is crazy!
Laremy didn’t hide anything last night though and maybe that is the right choice in his situation but after getting drilled by the media one lady came in and saved Tunsil from any further confessions he may have wanted to make.
I’m sure Laremy is really only concerned that Wrestlemania is on the WWE Network right now and he just wants to sit down and watch it!
Matthew Mitchell has been an amazing coach for the women’s basketball team. Taking them to 7 straight NCAA tournaments. Four trips to the Sweet Sixteen in five years. So, what is driving players and coaches away from this program?
There have been six players who are no longer part of the team, five of those are transfers and one was a dismissal, all of which have happened in the last six months. There has also been two recruits back out of their commitments to Coach Mitchell and the Lady Cats. This is troubling news and that’s not even all of it! Three assistant coaches have now fled the program with Camryn Whitaker being the latest.
As fun as it is to see the man dance at Big Blue Madness is it time for Coach Mitchell to no longer be here?
Yesterday started off like most other Thursday’s. I struggled to get my aging body out of bed to spend 15 minutes showering and getting my beard looking somewhat neat. Then I looked at my phone while walking out the door.
That’s when I found out that a woman whom I feared as a teen, Chyna or Joanie Laurer if you were lucky enough to actually know her, had passed away at 45. She was incredibly strong and talented in an era of Women’s wrestling where we saw most talent take a back seat to sex appeal. This was a hard thing to see mainly given the fact that so many of the wrestlers I grew up watching have passed away at such a young age.
I get to work and start trudging through my daily stacks of paper and then comes another “storyteller” leaving this world.
Prince was another incredible talent and gave me one of my first OMG moments while watching a musician. When Prince played Purple Rain in the rain at the halftime show for the Super Bowl, it gave me chills all the way through my soul. I am a big Colts fan and seeing my team (and my QB) win the Super Bowl should’ve been what I remembered from that night in my life, but, I just keep seeing that crazy guitar wielding artist absolutely rocking Miami.
After getting home and talking about how sad the day had been with my wonderful girlfriend, I see a bright spot in the day. Tyrell Ajian, a 4 star athlete from Mansfield, OH committed to playing for Coach Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats. The 6’1″ 185 lb. Ajian had offers from Michigan, Michigan St., Notre Dame, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and several others. Stoops is bringing in the talent!!!
Now, right before heading to bed I checked my Facebook and saw that history was about to take place.
Jake Arrieta pitched a no-hitter against the Reds (of course)! One of my favorite things about this is the fact one of my friends, that is a Cubs fan, was in attendance! This was an amazing feat and puts him in rare company on many list. I am fortunate to be going to Chicago to watch the Cubs play at Wrigley field and I really believe I’ll be watching the team that’ll win the World Series this year! For a Cubs fan that’s an interesting thing to say!
By now most of you have heard the name Marques Bolden and have probably heard several times that he was announcing, only to then hear he was going to wait. This week’s news on the #1 Center in the 2016 class is that he and his coach are going to discuss all the options today. They hope to have an announcement this week… I’m sure that’ll happen!!!
I think the next bit of recruiting news holds more importance. Kevin Williams could bring experience to the Cats right away. The transfer option is going to be on campus this weekend and the coaching staff could pull off a big time get that will help the team immediately. He’s a 6-3 275 lb. DT who won an appeal with the NCAA for a 6th year of eligibility. Williams missed the 2021 & 2013 seasons with knee injuries. Last year he battled hand and groin injuries and only played 5 games. Even with the injury concerns, he could be a positive addition to our team and add some depth to our defensive line.
UK held its spring game today and the Blue-White game was a huge success. Blue team aka 1st team won 31-20. Barker had a few down field throws and connected with CJ Conard down the middle for a score. Stephen Johnson looked good out of the pocket and JoJo Kemp carried the workload well for the Blue team!
Before the game started, UK had a surplus sale that had fans wrapped around the Nutter facility. I saw fans with game-used jerseys, footballs, and football helmets! I ended up with a decent amount of UK garb and one golf club I’m looking forward to trying out!
All-in-all it was a great Saturday to watch football. I can not wait for the fall so I can do this every Saturday!
Kentucky has moved up to 16th in the nation after a series win against Bama. There are only two teams in the SEC that have won every series and that would be UK and Mississippi State! For those that don’t know Dustin Beggs is killing it this year at 7-0 and is a fist-team mid-season All-American. Everybody needs to get out to Cliff Hagan Stadium to watch a game this year. It could be a special year for these kids!
