The Trio of Stars Coming in Next Year

The last 5 days have been great for Coach Cal and the Kentucky Wildcat faithful. Nick Richards started the commit party off last Thursday around 2 PM. 4 hours later, PJ Washington donned the Wildcat ball cap on ESPNU. Early (for some) this morning, Shai Alexander made it known that he too was committed to playing for Calipari in Lexington. I figured now would be a good time to delve into these three young men and see what we might be able to expect once they step foot in Rupp Arena.

Nick Richards

Richards reminds me a little of Dakari Johnson. His offensive game looks a bit more polished and his motor seems to run a little faster. All-in-all Nick Richards has all the tools to become the next in the line of Freshman All-Americans at Kentucky. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was knocking on the door of defensive player of the year too!

Washington is ranked behind Richards on 247 but in my eyes Washington is better than Richards. Washington brings athleticism, power, and tons of confidence with him to Lexington. He’s like Malik Monk in Bam’s body. He has POY written all over him!

Shai Alexander

Alexander is probably not going to be a traditional one-and-done player. I could see him sticking around a little longer unless he hits a growth spurt. He reminds me of a less skilled Tyler Ulis. I hope I’m completely wrong about him, I’ve been wrong before thanks to Alex Poythress. I’d say Coach Cal will recruit over Alexander and we will see one or even two 5 star guards committing to Kentucky after it’s all said and done.
