Former Kentucky wildcat and current Sacramento King, Skal Labissiére, is back in Haiti for the first time since the deadly magnitude 7.0 earthquake rocked the country and the city of Port Au Prince back in 2010. Skal was reunited with family and friends including the man who helped his father search for him in the rubble. He even got to meet the president of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse.
In addition to meeting family and visiting the places he grew up, Labissiére is running a camp called Camp S. K. A. L. He hopes his camp will be a beacon of hope for these children and proof that they can reach their dreams just as he did, despite his circumstances. His story has been an inspiration to many back in his home country and Skal says he hopes to continue the camp every year in the future.
