Do you find yourself still looking for tickets to the Wildcat’s home opener on September 9th against Eastern Kentucky University? If so, I just wanted to share with you a couple of opportunities that are out there for you. UK Athletics has announced that the game versus EKU will be the Wildcats’ annual Heroes’ Day game. This event honors all active and reserve members of the armed forces, as well as police, firefighters, and first responders. All members of these groups are eligible to receive two complimentary tickets to the game by simply presenting a valid service ID, while supplies lasts of course. These tickets will be available at the Joe Craft Center ticket office starting next Tuesday, September 5th and goes throughout the week of the game daily from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. These tickets can also be claimed the day of the game starting at 8:00 a.m. at the Kroger Field ticket office which is located between gates 9 and 10.

Another opportunity to get tickets to the Cats’ home opener is to purchase them through a special website which is . These tickets go for $30 a piece but here is the good thing about these tickets, $5 of each ticket sold will go to Homes For Our Troops (HFOT). HFOT builds and donates specially adapted homes nationwide for post 9/11 veterans that are severely injured to help them to rebuild their lives. A good proportion of these veterans have suffered injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or even full paralysis, and even severe traumatic brain injury. HFOT is also currently the sole beneficiary of the Swings for Soldiers Classic, this is the golf event that was started by UK Football great Jacob Tamme.

All this to say, if you’re still trying to find a way into Kentucky’s home opener next Saturday against EKU and one of these options suits you I highly suggest that you take advantage these opportunities and lets get a big crowd to support our Cats and cheer them on this season!
