It finally looks like Isaiah Briscoe has gotten his foot in the door of an NBA franchise! It was reported today by Adrian Wojanowski of ESPN that the deal had gone through. While this doesn’t mean he has a roster spot, it is a step in the right direction. Briscoe was on the 76ers Summer League team where he didn’t get much time on the court. This will be a great opportunity for the former Cat to show what he could do for a NBA franchise.
In his Sophmore year at Kentucky, Briscoe averaged 12.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, and 4.2 apg. While his offensive game won’t impress too many people, all of the BBN saw Briscoe can be a pest on defense. Briscoe also improved his field goal percentage from 43% in the 2015-16 season to 47% in the 2016-17 season. Briscoe also got some experience at point guard when De’Aaron Fox was out a couple games with an ankle injury. If he can continue his steady improvement in his game, he could impress the Blazers.
With his pesky defense and hard play, there’s no reason why Briscoe can’t make the best out of this opportunity. The Blazers could use a defensive minded guy like him because Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum aren’t the greatest defensive guards. Good luck in camp, Isaiah!
