1. What first caught your eye about hockey and made you want to play?
RD: I first got into hockey around first grade when my mom took me to her student’s inline hockey game. I just instantly fell in love was how fast paced it was.
2. What is your favorite team and player?
RD: Favorite team is the Detroit Red Wings and favorite player is Nicklas Lidstrom. (Even though I’m from Chicago)
3. Would you rather score a goal, hit a teammate with a pretty pass for a goal, or rock an opposing player with a big hit?
RD: I do love a nice one timer goal, but I love trying to hit my teammates with long cross ice passes for breakaways.
RD: My pregame playlist consists of a lot of rap new and old, but closer to game time I like to listen to EDM to get me amped up.
5. If you were not playing hockey, what would you play?
RD: If I wasn’t playing hockey I’d probably be playing Football or baseball because I had to give up both in high school. They just took to much time away from the rink.
6. What do you like to do in your free time?
RD: In my free time, when I’m not doing homework, I like to hang out with friends, maybe play some pick up basketball, take long naps, and watch The Office or Spongebob.
RD: In 5 years I hopefully see myself graduated from college and hopefully working for some sort of sports team media marketing division.
8. What is your favorite thing about Lexington?
RD: My favorite thing about Lexington is how much more quiet it is while still giving me a city type feel. Also everyone here is so nice and supportive of the school no matter what.
9. What would you like to say to the Big Blue Nation?
RD: My message for BBN would be UK hockey is back and on the rise. It’s a new program and a new era so come out at midnight we won’t disappoint.
The University of Kentucky will be on the road this weekend on a North Carolina run. Friday they will be at Elon, Saturday at North Carolina, then finish the weekend with Duke on Sunday. You can stay up to date on the games by following them on twitter @kentucky_hockey or ukhockey.com.
Again, I want to thank Ryan for taking time to do this. He, the rest of the hockey program, and media people have been very open and we here at ukfansallday.com can’t say thank you enough.
