The UK Men’s golf team starts off the season in spectacular fashion winning their first two outings with this win today at the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Wildcats was lead by Senior Chip McDaniel from Manchester, Kentucky shooting an astounding -12 under in his 3 rounds of play.
Arkansas finished 6 strokes behind UK by shooting a combined -26 under for the tournament and McDaniel won the individual title by a mere stroke. The -32 under par (820) score that the Cats posted was nineteen shots better than the previous record held during the Brian Craig era which was a combined (839) set during the 2015-2016 season.
This is the first season since the 2004 – 2005 season, led by current PGA member J.B. Holmes, that Kentucky has won back to back tournaments. The Wildcats had a run of three straight wins during that year, which included the 2005 SEC title.
Chip McDaniel, however, did not do it alone. After all, three players secured career low rounds during yesterday’s record breaking second round. The Wildcats came back strong again today with an -11 under score today. McDaniel, Cooper Musselman, and Sophomore Matt Liston all accounted for -3 under rounds during the final round today. Junior Fred Allen Meyer also shot a -2 under, sixty nine to help the Cats to victory!
