Kentucky hockey ends the Tobacco Road trip with a win over Duke

The University of Kentucky Hockey Club ended their 3 game road trip with a 6-1 win over Duke University. It doesn’t matter the sport, a win versus Duke is huge with the Big Blue Nation.

Kentucky got started with senior, Cory Day, getting the first two goals of the game. Then the freshman on the team took over. Jordan Shannon put in back to back goals, followed by a goal from Ryan Duffy, and one from Blake Riley.

Goalie Eric Willams kept Duke off the score board until they finally sneak one by with 6mins left in the game. In the end it was a 6-1 win by the Cats.

Kentucky finished third in the JSAP Tournament this weekend. Elon and UNC each had 26 points and UK had 25. It is a point system based off different factors, but being 2-0-1 on the trip is not bad for a team on their first major road trip of the season.

Kentucky is now 4-2-1 on the season. They welcome Mississippi State to the Lexington Ice Center this coming weekend, October 6th and 7th. Game time is midnight both nights and a $7 entry price. Come early, be loud, and wear blue.
