Keldon Johnson a 6’6 Shooting Guard out of Oak Hill Academy just committed to be a Wildcat! He chose the Cats over Texas, Maryland and NC State. He marked Calipari’s second commitment in the Class of 2018 behind PG Immanuel Quickley. He is the #2 overall Shooting Guard in the class.
Having Johnson commit just 24 hours after Barrett chose to go to Duke, I’m sure softened the blow for many Kentucky fans. Johnson is a monster when it comes to defense he doesn’t back down. “Defensive dog” is the title I am giving to him.
Johnson waited ever so patiently for his offer from John Calipari with it coming months ago while on unofficial visit at the University. But Johnson said he didn’t mind the waiting. This however, another case of Joel Justus winning the recruiting battle of yet another top player.
He told SEC Country’s Kyle Tucker this of Kentucky a few months ago:
“Legendary program, great coaching staff,” he said, “a coaching staff that gets you ready for the league.
Many seem to think Johnson will be a top 10 talent easily by the time new rankings come out but may even be top 5 to many. He’s is currently ranked 11th by 247sports and 7th by ESPN. He has been climbing up the latter as of recent and his game seems to have taken off even more.
Welcome to family Keldon.
