Last night at the Lexington Ice Center, The University of Kentucky Hockey Club got a win in the first game of the series against Cleveland State, 6-5.
Cleveland State kept the game close, as UK was coming off a two week stretch of no games because of cancellations. UK still had plenty of offense though with five different players scoring the Cats six goals. Aaron Bickle got things going with a score in the first, Jimmy Kasch and Ryan Duffy also added goals. Blake Riley then got two straight, with Beck Schultz getting the sixth and final goal of the night.
The Wildcats are now 11-5-1 (2-0 SECHC) and knocking on the door of a top 20 ranking in the southeast division of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association). Kentucky has a better record than a few of the teams that are ranked, so hopefully they can get in when the next rankings come out.
Kentucky will play Cleveland State again tonight in the second game of the series. The game will be at the Lexington Ice Center at midnight, it is $7 to get in. Come out and show your support for the team, wear blue, and BE LOUD!
