University of Kentucky defensive tackle Ja’Quize Cross has decided to transfer. The 6’3″ 310 sophomore informed the Big Blue Nation that he would be leave via Twitter:

Cross was unable to keep the starting role he enjoyed in several games in the 2016 season, which led to him taking on a role as a reserve. While this move, coupled with Matt Elam’s graduation, certainly affects the depth at defensive tackle, there are plenty of talented options for UK to go with next year. One is returning starter Quinton Bohanna, who started all twelve regular season games and the bowl game. It will be interesting to see if Coach Mark Stoops and company target another defensive tackle in this recruiting cycle, as they have redshirts on Abule Abadi-Fitzgerald, Chris Whittaker and have Calvin Taylor and Kordell Looney returning.
