A bumpy road that has been an adventure for former Wildcat DeAndre Liggins during his NBA years took another turn when he got let go on Sunday by the Milwaukee Bucks. Fast forward two days and he now has been signed by many Kentucky fans super team, the New Orleans Pelicans.
If you’ve been watching the NBA or keeping up with former CATS you’d know that the team currently consists of Rajon Rondo, Demarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, and recently added Kentucky great Darius Miller. Signing Liggins to a 10-day contract couldn’t make Kentucky fans more excited. Five Wildcats on one NBA team, now all we can hope for is too eventually have a starting five of just former CATS.
Liggins played a total of 31 games in Milwaukee averaging 15 mins, sometimes more. He will earn $89,109 on this 10 day contract. He will be available for the Pelicans during their next game in Memphis on Wednesday.
He has spent time with 7 different NBA teams in the league now, but his fight and hustle has never lacked once. Eric Bledsoe, his former Kentucky teammate and Milwaukee companion said this in an interview after learning of his departure:
Liggins has played for Orlando, OKC, Miami, Cleveland, Dallas, and most recently Milwaukee since being drafted from Kentucky in 2011. He however, has never let the constant changes alter his actions on the court.
Congrats DeAndre, Big Blue Nation is still watching.
