KENTUCKY vs Vanderbilt Preview

The Cats head to Nashville coming off a thrilling one point victory Tuesday night in Rupp Arena. This young squad has proven to be as up and down as the Bluegrass weather all season. Sometimes we look Final Four bound then others sleepy and confused. Speaking of the weather the team had to travel to Vanderbilt early to avoid potentially hazardous road conditions. This could have an effect on traveling fans Saturday making their way south. Blue always gets in but maybe in fewer numbers depending on this nasty winter storm. Vandy always presents a unique road atmosphere so why not throw some snow into the mix for 2018. Oh, its also a black-out. Of course it is.

The Vanderbilt Commodores are overall 6-10 and near the bottom of the SEC at 1-3. But as we found out against Texas A&M it is still too early to make assumptions about any team in the seemingly stout SEC. At this point any conference win is respectable. Sheesh.. it feels good to say that! Our conference as a whole has been rather weak for majority of the Cal era. Most outlets are labeling UK as the slight underdog in this one. Vandy has 4 players averaging double figures this season. But a focus area really needs to be containing Jeff Roberson who is at nearly 15 points per game

Keys for Kentucky:

1. Protect the 3 point line. VU is making 8.7 threes per game. We need to keep it there. As we approach that 10 made threes mark winning becomes challenging.

2. Toughness. Kind of sick of this word. But in only the second road test for the youngest team in college basketball it will prove to be crucial once again.

3. 40 minutes. I want to see the Cats put together a full games effort. Put em away early and finish it out.

Recent wins are starting to look much better. Especially on the road at LSU. Kentucky just needs to keep getting better. 47 days until March people!

And I gotta do it. Is Cal saving Jarred Vanderbilt for the Vanderbilt game? Come on! Picture perfect right? I predict this is not the case. Be shocked if the big guys first game isnt at Rupp. But we can šŸ™

Lastly, Vandy is shaping up to have a Kentucky-like recruiting class next year. With two 5 stars already signed and Romeo Langford rumored to be next. Um.. what? Im as confused as you.

UK – 68

Vandy – 62
