Tonight on ESPN @ 9 PM in Lexington, KY the cats take on the commodores. This is the first game since the miraculous come back in morgantown against West Virginia.
So, this game will tell the fans a lot in terms of how consistent this team has decided to be, consistency will be key when it comes down to the tournament and needing to play multiple games very well in a row.
Kentucky is currently favored a 11.5 point favorite over Vandy. ESPN also has us at a 86.2% favorite to win the game, all of this has to do with Vandy already having 13 losses, I wouldn’t say this has to do with any gained confidence in people after this game.
What will it take for people to trust this team? Consistency, just one word but it could mean so much for us. All year long we have lacked it. The ability to put multiple games in a row as a group and blow teams out that we should be blowing out will do it. Now, I’m not asking for perfection, I know that this team is not different than any other and that every team has a bad game, but generally speaking myself and others want to see consistency.
Above is our numbers from the last matchup against Vandy in Nashville that we won 74-67. Shooting only 30% from deep kept the game close, and that along with missing 12 free throws. This team’s goal tonight is to show that they have grown, that they can blow a team out and show that they are not worthy to be on the floor with them, it would be nice to see that killer instinct.
Things to see tonight
1. Kevin Knox continues to dominate
2. Jarred Vanderbilt finally find the bottom of the hole
3. Nick plays 2 halves instead of just one
These are just a few of the things to look for going into tonights game along with the needing to dominate as a team.
