Where Things Stand With Simons

Recently there has been word that UK reached out to a former commit of Scandal U (UofL) Anfernee Simons. Simons is a combo guard who plays for IMG Academy out of Florida. IMG has a long list of notable alumni including current Duke guard Trevon Duval and even former UK guard Ramel Bradley. Simons is listed as 6’3 and 165 lbs. and ranked as high as 7 on 247sports.com

Anfernee opened his recruitment back up after Louisville was caught up in yet another scandal this one involving paying players. It’s always hard to read where any recruit stands but there has been word that there is mutual interest between UK and Simons. There has not been any news that UK has extend an offer to Simons but that could change and will if UK feels Alexander will jump for the NBA following the season. Tennessee and Florida has thought to be the favorite since he has opened things back up but don’t sleep on Cal and his staff to come on late and steal him away.

Now here is where things get difficult, Simons has the options to enter his name into the 2018 draft. Cal is an amazing recruiter but it would be hard to talk someone out of pursuing their dream while making a nice amount of money if he feels like he will be drafted. Simons has already graduated from IMG and is spending a post-grad year there which makes him 19 years old and a year removed from high school. Anfernee would be an amazing late addition to the class even more so after missing out on some of the bigger names. The kid can get buckets and in a hurry, his shooting and creating offense off the dribble are his strong points but will need to get strong physically for the next level.
