UK Hockey Update: Cats go 2-0 on the Weekend

The Kentucky hockey club wrapped up the regular season with wins over Tennessee and Georgia! With the wins, Kentucky is now 19-7-1-1 heading into the SECHC tournament this coming weekend in Nashville. The top 25 Cats have a lot of work to do but are certainly in contention to win the SECHC tournament!

Friday, the Cats took on Tennessee where Kentucky rolled to an 11-1 victory. This night also included the presentation of the Taylor Vit Leadership award presented by UK Fans All Day. You can read more about the award here: ( https://ukfansallday.com/2018/01/05/uk-hockey-and-ukfansallday-com-team-up-for-new-award/ ). The award was presented to Cory Day to represent his leadership for the team. Overall, this was a great night. Here’s a picture from the presentation:

The weekend got better when Kentucky defeated Georgia by a score of 6-4 on Saturday night. The game was close throughout as it was tied at 4-4 with 11:10 left in the third. Kentucky would take a 5-4 lead just over a minute later with 10:25 left in the third. The Cats would put the nail in the coffin when they took a 6-4 lead with 39.4 seconds left in the third on an empty netter by Beck Schultz. This would end an already great weekend for UK hockey!
