Women’s Basketball: Comeback bid falls short as Wildcats fall to LSU 72-70

In what could be considered a tale of two halves, the Women’s basketball team trailed by as much as 15 in the third quarter and had a chance to win the game at the end , but Maci Morris missed a jumper from just inside the three point line and the Wildcats fell to to LSU 72-70. The second half started out much like the end of the first half  as both teams were able to find their rhythm and knock down big shots leading to a 51-43 lead for LSU at the end of the third quarter. The 4th quarter is were things got interesting as multiple times LSU had the lead at 10 points, but the wildcats were able to fight back into the game with hot shooting from Maci Morris, Amanda Paschal and Taylor Murray to bring the deficit to within two with 15.7 seconds left before the Maci Morris missed jumper and a final score of 72-70. The loss drops Kentucky to a 12-12 record overall and 4-6 in SEC play

Kentucky was led in scoring by Maci Morris with 17 points after only scoring 2 in the first half, she was followed by Taylor Murray with 16 points and 6 assists, Keke McKinney with 15 points and 10 points off the bench from Amanda Paschal. LSU was lead by a three headed attack of Raigyne Louis with 20 points and 7 assists, Chloe Jackson with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Ayana Mitchell with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

The UK Women will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Missouri to take on the 15th ranked Tigers. Tipoff is scheduled for 9:00pm and you can watch it on the SEC Network or the Watch ESPN app.
