It was an ugly half of basketball for Kentucky, as they trail #2 Mississippi State 40-22. For the first few minutes, it looked as if Kentuckly would be able to hang around for a little bit, only trailing 10-6 at the first media timeout. However, it wasn’t long before Mississippi State took control, as they used a 12-2 run to close out the first quarter to lead 22-8. The second quarter was much of the same, as the Bulldogs continued to light it up from three point land, going 8 for 17 with Roshunda Johnson getting 5 of them. Kentucky is being led in scoring by Maci Morris, with 7 points and 3 rebounds, followed by Taylor Murray with 4 points and Dorie Henderson with 4 points and 4 rebounds The 5 three pointers are the only baskets Roshunda Johnson scored, but it’s good enough to lead all scorers with 15 points, followed by Victoria Vivians with 9 points and 4 rebounds, with Teaira McCowan scoring 8 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Another key stat is that Mississippi State is capitalizing on Kentucky turnovers by forcing 13 and scored 14 points off of them.
