Women’s Basketball Halftime Update: #8 South Carolina 38 Kentucky 26

What looked like it would be a close back and forth game throughout, has slowly turned into the game we all thought it might be, as #8 South Carolina leads Kentucky 38-26 at halftime. So far, this game has been a one on one battle between Kentucky’s Maci Morris, who has 16 points, and South Carolina’s A’ja Wilson, who leads all scorers with 17 points. The game got off to a slow start, but quickly both teams got it going, as Kentucky started out 6 for 13, whilst having the rebound advantage 6 to 5 as the game was tied with 2:53 left in the first quarter. Shortly after the timeout, Maci Morris hit a three to put Kentucky in front, but it didn’t last for long, as South Carolina used a 58% shooting performance to take the lead 19-18 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, a drought set in for Kentucky, as they started 0-4 from the field and committed 5 turnovers by the 5:54 mark of the second quarter. South Carolina pushed the lead to 29-18, using a combined 13-0 run from the first quarter and finished the quarter outscoring the Wildcats 19-8, to get the halftime score of 38-26. Kentucky finished the second quarter going 2-11 from the field and committing 8 turnovers
