Cats and Hogs Preview: Cats look to build off win over ‘Bama

Know the Foe: Arkansas 19-8 (8-6)

The Hogs come into this one riding a 4 game winning streak and fresh off a beatdown of Texas A&M 94-75 on Saturday.

The Hogs are led by veterans Daryl Macon (17.0ppg) and Jaylen Barford (18.6ppg). Their anchor in the paint is the young, talented freshman Daniel Gafford (11.6ppg)

The question coming into this one is “Can the Cats conquer their conference road WOES???” The Cats will enter Bud Walton Arena with a 2-5 Conference road record. Bud Walton is a place that hasn’t been too kind to Cal and his Cats over his tenure at Kentucky. The Cats are 1-3 in Bud Walton Arena during the Cal Era. The lone win was an 80-66 victory back in 2016.

Keys to the GAME:

1.) Play with Passion and Emotion – You know Bud Walton is going to be full of energy and emotion tomorrow night. This is something the Cats will have to come out and match. That is something that they have failed to sustain on the road this season. Maybe the win over ‘Bama will carry over and the Cats will find some renewed confidence on the road.

2.) Handle the Arkansas Pressure – The Hogs hang their hat on playing that 40 minutes of hell style and tempo, but the Cats should be no stranger to facing that. They got a good taste of that on the road in West Virginia. Shai and Quade have showed they have to ability to handle the pressure in tough road environments.

3.) Build that Resume – The Selection Committee has made it evident that they are putting more emphasis on road wins. The Hogs currently sit at 26 in the RPI. A top 30 road win is like treasure: hard to find. Hopefully the Cats can find some treasure tomorrow night!!

Cats current Tournament Resume:

18-9 (7-7)

Vs Top 50 Rpi- 4-7

Quality Wins – Louisville,Texas A&M, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Alabama

Bad Losses – South Carolina

Game Prediction: CATS- 79 HOGS- 76 Should be a fun one in Fayetteville!!
