Cats Get it done in Bud Walton 87-72
An 11-0 start for the Hogs wasn’t the plan for Cal and the Cats, but this team showed some fight and physical toughness that we have not seen from this squad this season. Anytime that you can silence Bud Walton Arena, you are doing something right.
Jarred Vanderbilt was on another level tonight with his energy and hustle. The last 2 games have been eye popping, watching Vanderbilt elevate his game to a level we have yet to see from him. It looks like the young fellow is starting to get his basketball legs back and his feel, as well, which is just what the doctor ordered for this Kentucky Basketball team. 11 points, 9 boards and tons of energy was the final line for Vanderbilt.
Key Stats from the WIN:
Cats Crash the GLASS: Kentucky outrebounded Arkansas 46-29
8 of 21 from the 3 point line isn’t anything to write home about, but if this team can consistently hit around 7 or 8 threes, that will make them really tough down the stretch.
17 of 20 from the Free Throw line. That’s big time on the road.
87 points!! That’s back to back 80 points games. A few games ago, that didn’t seem like a possibility, the way this team was shooting the ball.
Gotta love the composure we saw from the Cats in the 2nd half. They took the fight to a veteran and physically tough Razorback team. Shai and Quade really handled the ball well against the Hogs pressure all night. It was just a well rounded team effort tonight.
Cats Resume after the Win over the Hogs:
VS Rpi top 50- 5-7
Quality Wins: 2 Monster road wins over Arkansas and West Virginia, Louisville, Texas A&M, Alabama, Virginia Tech
Bad Loss: South Carolina
Mizzou- 17-10 (8-7) RPI 23
Ole Miss 12-16 (5-10) RPI 118 MUST WIN IN RUPP
@ Florida 17-10 (8-6) RPI 59
Most Bracket Experts have the Cats hanging around that 5 or 6 seed line. If the Cats can take care of business at home against Mizzou and Ole Miss in the next 2, that would set up a big one down in Gainesville for the regular season Finale.
Next up for the Cats – Mizzou at home in Rupp at 8:15 et on ESPN. The first meeting against Mizzou was one to forget. Mizzou will be coming in off a home loss to Ole Miss in Overtime.
