9th ranked Kentucky Gymnastics bounced back after three straight top 25 losses on Friday night at Memorial Coliseum, beating #20 Missouri 197.100-195.125. With the score for UK over 197.000, that is the third best score in school history! The whole meet went very smooth for Kentucky, who didn’t have any falls or missed routines for the first time this season.

Vault:

Kentucky opened up out of the gates very strong, having all gymnast scoring a 9.755 or better. The Yurchenko fulls were crisp, elevated, and had no to small hops on their landings. Kentucky was led by Alex Hyland and Katie Stewart, who both received 9.875’s.

Bars:

Throughout the season, Bars has usually been one of the lowest scores in the meet, but tonight the Cats stuck landings and connected on every routine. Mollie Korth and Alex Hyland both scored 9.900 or better, and showed that UK could put up big scores in big time competitions. With all five routines scoring over a 9.825 or better, we know that this Kentucky team worked to improve their bar routine over the past week.

Beam:

Kentucky has been known for their beam routines over the past few years, and tonight shows why. The difference between the top highest score and the lowest score was separated by .500, which shows the depth in the lineup. There were many crisp and clean strokes and connections on bars, and the momentum just carried over from one gymnast to another.

Floor:

Kentucky finished the meet on floor, and put on a true show for Memorial Coliseum. Megan Monfredi made her Collegiate debut on floor, and scored a 9.800 for Kentucky. Every gymnast was having the floor routine of their lives, because there was no score below 9.8.

Kentucky came to compete, and compete they did. Kentucky improves to 7-4 and 3-4 in the SEC. Kentucky will return to Memorial Coliseum one last time for the season, in Friday against Ohio State on Senior Night. Come out and cheer on your Cats to Victory! Kentucky wore the new black leotards with blue accents and UK logo, which was a unique pop on a traditional Leo.
