WATCH: A.B. “Happy” Chandler Sings My Old Kentucky Home On Senior Night

Happy Chandler

Tonight is the last time we will see our beloved Wildcats in Rupp Arena this season.

Now the last home game usually means that its “Senior Night” more a couple of our players. But with this team unfortunately not having any seniors on the basketball team, it seems as if senior night is a no go for the basketball squad tonight.

But let me take you back for a couple minutes to one of the greatest moments in Kentucky Senior Night history.

The date is March 2nd 1988, Kentucky has five seniors in Winston Bennett, Ed Davender, Robert Lock, Cedric Jenkins, and Richard Madison. As well as it being the last time we ever see Rex Chapman play in Rupp Arena as he would go on to turn pro and enter the NBA draft after the season ended.

Then Albert Benjamin “Happy” Chandler comes to the mic, and although it looks like he can barely stand he still gathers the strength to sing “My Old Kentucky Home” with a voice that could move mountains on that day.
