UK Hockey has been going to work hard on the recruiting trail, and here are some targets that the BBN needs to keep an eye on that can help the team this coming season replace the departing seniors. In no particular order, here are five prospects that could be wearing the Blue and White this coming season.
1: Eric Fisher, defenseman
Eric is a big stay at home defender that goalies love to have in front of them, but also has the offensive skills that the other team must respect or get scored on. At 6’4 and 200lbs at only 18 years old, he has plenty of room to grow and get bigger and stronger. Eric is already committed to UK and accepted into the University. He is waiting on the NAHL draft to see if he will be coming to UK this season or the following.
2: Gary Eastlack, center/forward
Gary is a high output scoring center/forward, and extremely dangerous on the power play. Gary he lead his team this season with 61 points ( 28 goals and 31 assists) in only 37 games. Of his 28 goals, 14 came on the power play, with seven others being game winners. A power play line with him and returning Jordan Shannon could be very dangerous for the SECHC. It is looking like it is down to UK and defending D2 National Champions, Florida Gulf Coast. He has already been accepted into UK.
3: Steven Pawlow, forward/defenseman
Steven is one of those players you like to have on your team. One that is skilled offensively to play forward, and tough and patient enough to be a defenseman. Guys that can be plugged in anywhere in the line-up are a great luxury to have. Steven set up his team’s game winning goal with an assist in the SLUH Missouri High School Hockey Championship, and the game was broadcast on Fox Sports Missouri. It is looking like it is between West Virginia’s ACHA D1 team and UK. Steven has been accepted into UK.
4: Perry Giannino, goalie
A smaller and quick goalie (5’6 150lbs), Perry is coming off a very solid year for the USPHL Elite Tampa Bay Juniors. He posted a 2.37 goals against average with a .911 save percentage in 18 games for the club. He just finished his first full season with Elite level club, but has spent two years in the system there. It is looking like UK is Perry’s front runner, and has applied to the University.
5: Miles Corrigan, goalie
Miles has worked his way up the Illinois Hockey ranks, spending the last two seasons with Team Illinois of the HPHL. 2016-17 was with the U16 team, and last season with the U18 team. Last year he posted a 4.21 goals against average with a .906 save percentage in 12 games. Miles is looking at UK and Iowa as college landing spots, but is also trying out for the NAHL. He has applied to UK.
The University of Kentucky Hockey Club will be holding a Prospect Skate on April 4th from 9:45pm-10:45pm. If you are a potential prospect and have not signed up yet, contact Coach Clay on Twitter @CP_UKHKY.
