Four teams are left from a field of 68, so who is headed to San Antonio? Who will win the 2018 National Championship in college basketball?
The first team to punch a ticket to go to San Antonio was (11 seed) Loyola-Chicago. You wouldn’t have thought that an Elite 8 game with a (11 seed) would have gone the way it did, but they were playing a (9 seed) Kansas State, who the night before upset the (5 seed) Kentucky Wildcats. Kansas State must have left all their game on the court against Kentucky, along with all the shots they made, that they didn’t hit all year. (Kentucky is everyone’s Super Bowl). It was all Loyola-Chicago in the Elite 8 game vs. Kansas State. The Ramblers (smashed) Kansas State by 16 points, 78-62. So on Loyola-Chicago goes to San Antonio.
Second game of the night was a good game. (3 seed) Michigan vs (9 seed) Florida State. I have to say, I was definitely pulling for the underdog, that is what you do when your team is out, right? Anyway, the game between these two was an exciting back and forth, get behind and come back, down to the wire, what will the coach of the team who is trailing do, kind of game. It was later questioned why Florida State didn’t call a timeout in the last seconds, only down by 4. Michigan held on to win, 58-54. Michigan is San Antonio bound.
Third match up of the day was between (1 seed) Villinova and (3 seed) Texas Tech. For a team that isn’t known for their defense, sure looked great on defense, (lol) against an explosive offensive team as Texas Tech. Villinova was just to much on both sides of the floor though. Villinova defeats Texas Tech by 12 points, 71-59. Next stop, San Antonio!
Last game of the evening between (1 seed) Kansas and (2 seed) Duke, it was a heavy weight battle, back and fourth. Kansas found a weakness in Duke’s 1-3-1 zone and ate it up until Coach K changed up. (Lol) What a game, one of the great ones in the NCAA tournament, even though there were alot of turnovers and a ton of air-balls. (Also very funny). It was truly an amazing game, but in the end it was Kansas holding on to win in overtime 85-81, what a great game ,they are headed to San Antonio. ( Bill Self finally gets passed the Elite 8 as a 1 seed)
