The University of Kentucky may be getting another big commitment from the state Ohio. Westerville Central (OH) defensive end Dontay Hunter II has visited Kentucky recently and came away very pleased with his visit. The 6-5, 235 pound junior has several legitimate offers, including Maryland, Cincinnati, Minnesota and Indiana. Hunter is rated a composite 3 star by 247Sports and is the 25th best player in the state of Ohio. Hunter is scheduled to visit Ohio State and Michigan this week.
As a junior, Hunter registered 40 solo tackles, with 5 assisted tackles, for a total of 45 tackles. He had 14 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and an interception. Hunter has great burst off the edge and is also deceptively fast for a player his size, running a 4.7 second 40 yard dash, at 235 pounds. He will likely move up in the rankings, once he participates in the summer camps following his junior year.
The Crystal Ball on 247Sports is 100% in Kentucky’s favor, with recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong entering the latest Crystal Ball pick for Hunter to UK. It will be interesting to see what happens if hometown school Ohio State offers Dontay Hunter, but never count out Vince Marrow. Marrow has already beaten the Buckeyes for talents like Lynn Bowden and Chris Oats. However, this week’s Ohio State visit will tell a lot about the status of Hunter’s recruitment.
