Five star power forward EJ Montgomery has committed to Kentucky! This is an absolutely huge turn of events for John Calipari and the Cats. Both Duke and North Carolina were all-in attempting to sign Montgomery. Now that he is a Wildcat, we can rejoice in what has shaped up to be one phenomenal 2018 recruiting class. It now also seems ridiculous that the Kentucky coaching staff was exposed to harsh criticism after Zion Williamson shocked the country by committing to Duke in January. The BBN should know that it is absurd to question the methods of Calipari in regards to getting top talent.
EJ Montgomery is a smooth 6’10 big man out of Marrieta, GA. He is a McDonald’s All-American and ranked as a top 15 player in most publications. Along with his tremendous skill set, he will also come with high level experience. I remember watching EJ play as a high school freshman for Montverde Academy and Coach Kevin Boyle. Back in 2014-2015 he was battling Ben Simmons in practice everyday, so he will fit right in with the friendly competition that playing at UK will undoubtedly bring.
We are spoiled. A talent like EJ Montgomery would be the pillar for most other schools recruiting classes, but adding EJ to our already stacked freshman class makes next year extremely promising for Kentucky. This is especially true when you consider the inevitable reality that we will be returning some experienced players next season. Lets go!
Welcome to La Familia EJ.
