After Mark Stoops decided to let Lamar Thomas go, he brought in Micheal Smith. Smith has SEC experience as his last job was with Arkansas. He is apart of the Bill Snyder coaching tree as he spent time at Kansas State as well. Other division one schools that Smith has coached at include Arizona and Rice.

Brad White (OLB coach)

There were many rumors that Kentucky was actively trying to hire Ed Reed as the tenth assistant coach. This would eventually fall through. Mark Stoops ended up hiring Brad White to become the OLB coach. White’s last job was in Indianapolis with the Colts. He has made it clear that he is excited to coach NFL caliber players like Josh Allen, Denzil Ware, and Josh Paschal.

E.K. Franks (recruiting coordinator)

E.K. Franks will be Kentucky’s recruiting coordinator along with Vince Marrow. Franks’ last job was with Florida as director of player personnel. He does have Kentucky ties as he was on the same staff as Michael Smith at Arkansas.

Freddie Maggard (director of player development)

Former Kentucky quarterback Freddie Maggard will be taking over the director of player development role. Maggard is beloved by UK fans all over as we have gotten to know him over the radio. Pregames for football were always fun to listen to when you knew Freddie would be on. I am 100% certain that he will be a great addition to the staff and help our past, current, and future players at Kentucky.
