Kentucky vs. Columbia Live Blog

UPDATE: Due to lightning in the vicinity of The Bell, tonight’s match is currently in a weather delay.

Players out on the pitch warming up. Tentative kickoff time set for 8:35 p.m. ET.

Ten minutes in here at The Bell. Both teams have had one serious foray forward, with Kentucky’s resulting in a simple save for Castanheira, Columbia’s keeper, in the end.
0-0 (11′)

Probing move by the visitors but the UK back line is up to the task on the first effort, blocking a shot by Azuma, and then Faccusse saves a shot by Agrest from 10 yards.
0-0 (27′)

Evenly poised so far. The neutral will be hoping for an injection of energy with the lads refueled and making a push this last quarter of an hour before the break.
0-0 (30′)

Back under way and UK with some nice one-touch buildup along the left flank, but eventually Williams can’t get much power on the shot.
0-0 (35′)

Nil-nil at the half.

Goal – Kentucky!
@JJ23Williams roofs one to give the Cats a 1-0 lead with his first goal of the season.

Chance for Columbia as Gunbeyi broke free along the left, but his cross was behind all the onrushing Lions.
UK 1-0 CU (83′)

Two cautions for Columbia here late in the second half.
First to #5 Markarian and then to #30 the goalkeeper Castanheira.
UK 1-0 CU (84′)

Really good defending from Tanner Hummel. The Lions were attacking in transition and the senior captain did ever so well to intercept.
UK 1-0 CU (85′)

The Kentucky Wildcats are off to a 2-0start to the 2018 season, with Louisville coming to The 🛎 for the next game, Tuesday, Sept.
