We all know the major headline for this game so I’m not going to focus on that. What I want to look at is what both teams accomplished in their home openers. Both teams opened up in front of their fans with a win going against teams they were favored to beat. Kentucky turned the ball over four times, but overcame a tough first half to shut out the Chippewas. The Wildcats ran for four touchdowns while only allowing one offensive touchdown by Central Michigan. Florida had Felipe Franks throwing the ball all over the place tallying 5 touchdowns and the Gators defense came up with 3 turnovers. Charleston Southern somehow only had 3 yards passing, THREE! They did have however get 222 yards on the ground. And there it is folks, that’s the key to winning this game in my eyes. We have to run the ball and key Terry away from throwing into traffic as much as possible. Our passing plays should stay with the occasional deep ball down the sideline and safe short throws. This will help us avoid turnovers and Florida hasn’t proved that they can defend the run well.
