Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship- Women’s Golf Day 1

A break in the rain this morning to allow us to get underway at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. Still going to be a wet day, but no complaints when we are out on the golf course.

We’ve got a Wildcat at the top of the leaderboard of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship! Leonie Bettel is making an early move with a string of birdies!

Lot of circles on that scorecard for Leonie Bettel in round one. She remains right in the thick of things at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship heading into the afternoon’s round.

While most of our team is in Knoxville for the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, Rikke Svejgård Nielsen and Sarah Fite are holding their own at the MSU Greenbrier Invitational. Svejgård Nielsen was tied for third after the first round and Fite was tied for 12th.

Claire Carlin is making a move in Knoxville. She’s tied for 16th and was as low as 2-under par a couple holes ago.

So how’s that for her second round of college golf?! While most of the team is in Knoxville for the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, Rikke Svejgård Nielsen is at home in Lexington and leading the MSU Greenbrier Invitational by six strokes at even par after a second-round 70

Tough conditions in Knoxville today with the remnants of Hurricane Florence passing through, but there is no raining on Leonie Bettel’s early-season parade. She just keeps on keeping on. She’s tied for fifth, just two strokes back of the lead.

Leo opened the season with four rounds of par or better, the first Wildcat to post four straight rounds of par or better since Josephine Chang did it four straight times to start her career in the fall of 2016.
