I never thought I’d see the day that Kentucky was ranked in the top 25 in football. Today, that dream has come true as your Cats are ranked 17th in both the USA TODAY Coaches Poll and the AP Poll! The last time BBN could say they were ranked was November of 2007 after two wins over top 10 opponents in Louisville and LSU. This time, the Cats needed two wins against AP top 25 teams to crack the rankings after two huge wins at Florida and vs Mississippi State.
All of a sudden, Kentucky is one of the most talked about teams in the nation. Benny Snell has emerged as a potential heisman contender and Josh Allen and the Kentucky defense is shutting down opponents. This is the first time since 2007 that Kentucky has to deal with national attention week-to-week and it will be important for Mark Stoops and his staff to keep the team level-headed. The 17th ranked Cats will be tested quickly with a crucial SEC east matchup this Saturday at home against South Carolina. Until then, let’s celebrate our success!
