Kentucky vs. South Carolina Preview

Kentucky (4-0) is full of excitement from the huge victory last week against Mississippi State and will look to continue the success they have seen so far against South Carolina (2-1). The fans are ready, the national attention is gaining, and talks of a truly special season are swirling. We’ve been in similar spots in the past few years and have been let down, but, this is not that type of team. This team is hungry… VERY HUNGRY! Kentucky has used a simple game plan to secure victories in the last 4 games and it doesn’t look like that’ll be much different going forward. Run the ball with Benny Snell and stop the run, it’s just that simple. Now, in past years Mark Stoops hasn’t had the necessary talent to execute that game plan but now our offensive line is so good that Kentucky is the top rushing team in the SEC and our defense is 21st in the nation at stopping the run. Our 3rd conversion rate is 2nd in the SEC and getting out of 3rd and long situations have been key, but, Terry Wilson taking off on 3rd down has helped us accomplish that stat line as well. Even in passing downs Kentucky is only allowing one sack per game which is 3rd best in the SEC. South Carolina comes in averaging 279 yards a game through the air and will look to test our defensive backs. I think they are ready for that test and will pass with flying colors, plus, that gives Josh Allen more of a chance to make his impact known. I look for this to end up as a 2+ score win for Kentucky and to set up a huge game with Texas A&M for a chance to be 6-0 in the first half of this season.
