Indiana Swim Meet preview

The Kentucky swimming and diving teams will make the short haul to Bloomington, Indiana, to compete in the first meet of the 2018-19 season on Wednesday.

The road meet will feature Big Ten Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference foes, Indiana and Notre Dame, respectively. Missouri will also be in attendance, though the Wildcats and the Tigers will not compete against one-another. Missouri will host Kentucky on Nov. 1-2.

Wednesday’s quad meet will function as three separate dual meets in one. It will start at 10 a.m. in the Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center. The schedule of events includes 14 races, each consisting of two heats, with the diving contest occurring simultaneously.
Kentucky is eager to open the season after putting their talent to the test Friday in the annual Sun Shall Shine meet. The Blue-White scrimmage featured each swimmer and diver in the program, allowing the athletes to practice and compete in a competitive setting ahead of a strong schedule.

In Friday’s spectacle, Kentucky improved its top times in 15 events, compared to last season’s Blue-White results.
Wednesday’s meet is considered one of the toughest competitions on our schedule. Indiana’s men’s team completed the 2017-18 season ranked third in the CSCAA polls, while the women finished ninth. Hoosier standout Lilly King will return as a senior. King won her third-straight NCAA title in her last campaign, while also setting a record for the best breaststroke time in history – 2:02.60. Notre Dame’s men and women finished No. 19, a spot that each team claimed for the better half of the season.
