As most of you know, Kentucky received a commitment from Beau Allen yesterday. He is listed as a three star pro style quarterback on 247 and had offers from Georgia, West Virginia, Michigan, among others. He’s the fourth commitment for the 2020 class and the 21st ranked quarterback in the nation. Kentucky now holds commitments from 2 of the top 5 recruits in the state and have a good shot at the 2nd ranked Vito Tisdale, a safety from Bowling Green. We’ve seen early success in recruiting before and my big question is, can we keep these guys.
To me it all starts with success on the field. Last year’s success will pay dividends for years going forward and I believe that even a step back (which Stoops hasn’t done as a head coach) will not hurt this class. John Young has been very adamant about his loyalty to his commitment and I think he’ll be able to keep this class together in a way we’ve not seen before. I don’t want to get into the expectations for the highly ranked in-state QB because those types of guys have come in and not lived up to our hopes before. I just hope that Allen comes in and works hard to find success.
