The biggest trade this past holiday weekend involved Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the Clippers made a play to be a force with Kawhi and Paul George. The trade sent Shai from LA to OKC and he’ll be in a crowded frontcourt with Russell Westbrook and Dennis Schroder. There has been talks of whether it is time for OKC to move on from Westbrook but I don’t see that happening right now. SGA will join Patrick Patterson, Hamidou Diallo, and Nerlens Noel and the Thunder will become the team with the most Wildcats on their roster.
The main show in LA may be the Lakers as they have created a roster that includes Anthony Davis, Demarcus Cousins, and Rajon Rondo to pair with Lebron. This should put the Lakers in contention but I still feel like they need to improve at guard.
Willie Cauley-Stein wanted to play for a winner and with the Warriors he’ll have that chance. I fully expected WCS to thrive at Golden State and earn a big payday down the road.
We still have a few guys waiting to see if they get signed or waiting on their qualifying offers to be matched or accepted. We may see some of these guys sign two way contracts. Those that have signed or will be working their current contracts will be making around $280 million this upcoming year. Those that are still waiting for something to happen include: Tyler Ulis, Isaac Humphries, Alex Poythress, Wenyen Gabriel, Trey Lyles, Isaiah Briscoe, Reid Travis, and Jodie Meeks. If all these players make a roster we would have 34 players on 20 different teams!
