Za’Darius Smith and Randall Cobb are the respective defensive and offensive MVPs this week. Smith terrorized the Bears offensive line and Cobb was part of an offensive explosion for the Cowboys. Both ended up helping their team win, with the 17 years straight captain Wesley Woodyard and the two-time Pro Bowler Larry Warford helping their teams with in great games. Bud Dupree had a great game in his first game of a contract year and will look to continue this success to earn a big payday on an extension.

As for the rookies, Benny Snell only saw snaps on special teams which is a shame seeing as though it was a blowout loss and the other backs weren’t productive at all. Maybe they will work him in early next week against the Seahawks. Josh Allen got a sack on Patrick Mahomes that was negated by a personal foul penalty. Allen was on the field a lot tallying 51 snaps which was 75% of the defensive snaps, 2nd among his position. Lonnie Johnson only got to see the field on special teams but in my opinion it’ll take significant improvement or an injury for him to see his role on the defense become bigger. Mike Edwards did well given his snap count, he only was on the field for 4 snaps on defense and got 1 pass deflection.

We will have a breakdown of Week 2’s schedule on Thursday and make sure to follow us on Instagram as we will start posting our MVPs each week!
