The number 2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats will take on Georgetown College Tigers in exhibition this Sunday at Rupp Arena. This will be the 53rd meeting between the two in state teams. The first meeting between these two teams was February 6, 1903 in which Kentucky lost 14-6. The last meeting was November 9, 2014 in which Kentucky won 121-52 in exhibition. Kentucky finished last season 30-7 after losing to Auburn in the Elite 8, 77-71. Kentucky lost 3 players to the NBA Draft, but returned 5 players to be a part of the 2019-2020 roster. Ashton Hagans, Immanuel Quickley, and EJ Montgomery opted to return for their sophomore season while Nick Richards returned for his junior season. Kentucky added a veteran and graduate student, Nate Sestina along with 6 freshmen and a walk on junior to its roster.
The Georgetown Tigers won the 2019 NAIA National Championship, having a top program in the country for nearly a decade making three national title appearances and cutting the nets down in two of them ( 2013, 2019).
It’s expected for the Wildcats to cruise to a victory but might not just be a 70+ one like the last time these two teams were face to face. This game will give the fans a chance to still learn about the new guys.
The game will take place on Sunday October 27th at 5 P.M. EST on SEC Network at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY.
