Kentucky wins season opener over Mount St. Mary’s 67-44

13th ranked Kentucky hosted Mount St. Mary’s in their 2019 season opener at Memorial Coliseum. Tatyana Wyatt gets Kentucky on the board first with a good layup. Rhyne Howard with a 3 pointer and Kentucky is up 5-0 over Mount St. Mary’s. Jatarrikah Settle makes both free throws to get Mount St. Mary’s on the board. KeKe McKinney with a jumper, Cats up 7-2.  Kentucky keeps up the lead over the Mountaineers to finish the 1st quarter with a 15-12 lead. Kentucky and Mount St. Mary’s go back and forth in the 2nd quarter with layups, jumpers, free throws, and 3 pointers. Kentucky leads 27-21 at the half.  Kentucky starts the third quarter with free throws at the 6:19 mark by Jaida Roper. Tatyana Wyatt with a layup and the Cats are up by 10. Kentucky with several more free throws, Cats with a 44-32 lead. Kentucky starts the 4th quarter with a free throw by Jaida Roper, layup and free throws by Rhyne Howard, and a 3 pointer from Emma King. Cats with their largest of 21, 57-36. Kentucky adds four more free throws by Sabrina Haines and Rhyne Howard with a 61-36 lead over Mount St. Mary’s. Rhyne Howard with a 3 pointer, to put Kentucky up by 29, 65-36. She has 14 points now.

Kentucky gets their first win of the season to start 1-0.

Kentucky travels to Murfreesboro to take on MTSU in their first road game of the season. The game is on Sunday November 10th at 3 p.m. ET.
