Kentucky looks to keep the momentum going after their 8 point win over Utah Valley when they take on Mount St. Mary’s as part of the BBN Showcase. This marks the 2nd meeting between Kentucky and Mount St. Mary’s. The first meeting between these two teams was on March 16, 1995 in the 1995 NCAA Southeast Regional First Round. Kentucky was a 2 seed and won 113-67. Kentucky only had 7 players to play in the Utah Valley game. EJ Montgomery is still out with a right ankle injury and Immanuel Quickley suffered a chest injury during practice over last weekend. Ashton Hagans looked much better as he had 26 points in the 82-74 victory. Kahlil Whitney dislocated his finger, got a rebound, and popped in back in place as well.
Just like Kentucky being a young team this season, Mount St. Mary’s return a relatively young, but experienced team as they only have freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. They went 9-22 last season. Out of their 15 Mountaineers players, 10 are guards, which include a talented backcourt in juniors Jalen Gibbs and Vado Morse; they combined for better than 27 points a game last year.
You can watch the Wildcats and Mountaineers in the second game of the BBN Showcase this Friday at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
