#9 Kentucky defeats Southeast Missouri State to advance to 2nd Round

#9 seeded Kentucky looks to make their mark in the NCAA Tournament as they host Southeast Missouri State, Michigan, and Northern Kentucky in the first two rounds at Memorial Coliseum. Kentucky’s first opponent is Southeast Missouri State.

Kentucky starts the first set with kill from Leah Meyer, along with another kill by Leah Edmond for the Cats to start 2-0. They lead 15-9. Leah Edmond has five kills on eight swings for the Wildcat’s offense. Wildcats take the first set over Southeast Missouri State, 25-20.

Wildcats have a 15- 11 lead in the second set and extend that to a 20-13 lead. Wildcats take the second set, 25-15. They are just one set away from advancing to the second round.

Kentucky scores five in a row and they lead 8-4 in the third set. Wildcats extend the lead to 19-14. Edmond has 18 kills, Stumler has 12. Lilley with 32 assists, and Curry with 13 digs. Kentucky wins the third set, 25-19. Kentucky advances to the second round to take on Michigan tomorrow night at 7 p.m. ET at Memorial Coliseum.
