Kentucky Football Recruiting Update

With Joey Gatewood’s commitment last night, I wanted to take a look at where Kentucky stands when it comes to recruiting. The early signing period is December 18th and that day should give BBN some great early Christmas presents. There are currently 17 commitments in the upcoming recruitment class for Mark Stoops and company. The headliners so far include Justin Rogers (the 44th ranked recruit in the nation), Samuel Anaele (10th ranked strong side defensive end), John Young (4 star tackle), and of course Joey Gatewood. There are some big names still out there and there’s a chance they could end up in blue next season.

Here’s a list of guys already committed:

Now, let’s look at the top players the Kentucky could add in the near future:

Joel Williams (CB)
Baton Rouge, LA
6-1 / 180
4 Star

Williams looks like a Kentucky lean right now and could bolster an already strong and still improving secondary.

Michael Drennen II (RB)
Dublin, OH
5-11 / 196
4 Star

Mike Drennen could end up being the next big thing when it comes to running the rock at Kentucky. With Eddie Gran’s offense and our talent on the O-Line, I could see Drennen doing special things in Lexington. He’s currently a fairly strong lean.

Vito Tisdale (S)
bowling green, Ky
6-1 / 201
4 Star

Tisdale is nearly a lock to end up playing college football for Mark Stoops. His athleticism is very impressive and he’ll be another big name in the Kentucky secondary! He is committing on January 4th at the All-American game.

tyler barron (de)
knoxville, TN
6-4 / 252
4 Star

Josh Allen starting a trend in regards to the Kentucky pass rush. It looks as though Calvin Taylor will be drafted as the second UK D-Line prospect in the last two years and Boogie Watson will likely continue that streak. Barron could be in line to continue the success in Lexington if he were to upset the hometown Vols and choose Kentucky. He is committing on December 18th.

damien alford (wr)
hollywood, fl
6-5 / 210
3 Star

Alford is listed as a three star but we’ve seen what big bodied wideout can do and he could be the next in line to fill that spot for Kentucky. Kentucky has had Hollywood, Florida receivers on lock with names like Clevan Thomas and Josh Ali on the roster right now.
