Kentucky looks to bounce back after back to back losses in Las Vegas last week. They host in-state rival Louisville at Rupp Arena this afternoon in a marquee match-up to end the non-conference schedule and the decade, let’s make it count boys.
After Kentucky starts the game with two fouls, Louisville has an early 6-2 lead over Kentucky. Cats cut it to two, 6-4. Kentucky finally takes the lead with a 3 pointer by Tyrese Maxey and a layup by Nate Sestina, 9-6. Louisville has cut down the lead to just one, 11-10. Louisville takes the lead and then the Cats take it back with a 3 pointer, 14-12. We are tied up at 17-17. It has been a back and forth game between the Cats and the Cards here in the first half but Kentucky is up by 1 with just 3:47 left, 21-20. With just seconds left in the first half Kentucky has a 29-24 lead. Kentucky leads by 8 at the half, 32-24. We need another 20 minutes like this to finish this game out strong. There is a huge difference between the teams that played against Utah and Ohio State.
Louisville starts the second half with a layup and Kentucky has gone on a 6-1 run with Louisville getting one free throw after a Kentucky foul, 38-27. It has been cut down to one, 41-40 after Louisville hit a 3. There’s still time left and it’s anyone’s ball game. Louisville has the lead but Kentucky takes it back with a 3 by Tyrese Maxey, 48-46. It’s still been back and forth in the second half and the Cards get it down to a one point game, 52-51. With just seconds left in the second half, 61-59. Tie game, 61-61.
Louisville starts the overtime and Kentucky has the lead and we are tied. Louisville’s Nwora hits a 3 and the Cards are back in front with 2:20 left, Tied at 68. Kentucky up by 2, 70-68. Kentucky defeats Louisville 78-70 in overtime.
