Kentucky has already played Georgia once earlier this month where they played in Athens and won 78-69 after trailing at halftime and Georgia’s Anthony Edwards celebrated a little too early after Kentucky came back in the second half to beat the Bulldogs. They play them tonight at Rupp Arena and look to sweep the Dawgs in SEC play.
Ashton Hagans gets Kentucky on the board first with a jump shot, Immanuel Quickley adds to that with his own jump shot, Cats up early with a 4-0 lead. Ashton with two more, Rayshaun Hammonds with a tip shot to put Georgia on the board. EJ Montgomery makes both of his free throws and then gets a layup shot to put the Wildcats up with a 10-2 lead. Georgia with a 3 to cut the lead in half but Kentucky keeps persevering to keep the lead up by 10, 18-8. Georgia within 4 points but Kentucky responds but then the Bulldogs take the lead on a 9-0 run, 29-28. Cats go on a 7-0 run of their own including a 3, 35-29. Kentucky leads at halftime, 41-35.
Georgia starts the second half on a 4-0 but Kentucky responds with a 4-0 run of their own. A back and forth half so far, but Cats with the 51-45 lead. Georgia tries to close in on Kentucky but Johnny Juzang adds to the score, 63-56. Wildcats have gone on a 12-2 run and have a 70-58 lead. Wildcats continue to add to their score to have an 81-67 lead. Kentucky defeats Georgia 89-79 and sweeps the series 2-0.
Kentucky travels to Lubbock to take on Texas Tech in the Big 12/ SEC Challenge this Saturday at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN.
