13 Kentucky bounces back with 68-61 win over Auburn in We Back Pat game

Wildcats are coming off a loss to LSU and a bye week. They host Auburn at Memorial Coliseum in their We Back Pat game, honoring former Lady Volunteers head coach who lost her battle to Alzheimer’s.

Blair Green starts Kentucky off with a 3 pointer; Auburn responds with a bucket, a 3-2 lead for the Cats. Blair Green with another 3and she has all of the Cats points so far. Back and forth between these two teams, Auburn takes their first lead but Sabrina Haines hits a three to give the Cats the lead back, 11-9. Wildcats extend their lead before the first quarter is up and they have a 21-13 advantage.

Auburn starts the second quarter with a 3, Rhyne Howard responds with one of her own. Kentucky has 5 three pointers just in the first half of the game and an 11 pointer lead over the Lady Tigers, 29-18. Kentucky has gone on a 7-0 run, but Auburn scores, and Kentucky gets another three to make that 7 treys in the first half. Kentucky has a 20 point lead, their largest over Auburn; they cut it down to 16, 42-26.Kentucky goes into halftime with a 44-28 lead.

Auburn starts the third quarter with a 5-0 run that includes a 3 and two free throws. Not a good start for Kentucky as Auburn has now gone on an 11-0 run and Kentucky has not scored at all. Auburn makes it just a 4 point game. Kentucky breaks their scoreless run with a free throw but Auburn get a layup. Sabrina Haines with three pointer, and another one, 51-42.  Kentucky still has the lead after the third quarter, 51-47.

Auburn once again starts the fourth quarter would at one point tie it up but Kentucky finds a way to keep the lead. Wildcats with back to back threes from Amanda Paschal and KeKe McKinney, Auburn with a 3 of their own and it’s a 3 point game, 59-56. Auburn gets too close for comfort so Kentucky responds with a layup from Rhyne Howard, but Unique Thompson with a layup to make it a 61-60 game.   Kentucky ends the fourth quarter on free throws to defeat Auburn 68-61 to bounce back after their loss to LSU.

Kentucky travels to Columbia, MO to take on Missouri at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
