After an OT thriller win over Texas Tech the 13th ranked Kentucky Wildcats look to get back on track with SEC play by hosting the Vanderbilt Commodores. Tonight, the Wildcats will be wearing warm-up shirts and some players will sport shoes while they play to honor the late Kobe Bryant, after his tragic death this past Sunday.
Kentucky gets started with a 3 pointer from Tyrese Maxey, Vanderbilt responds with one of their own. Cats up early with an 11-8 lead but the Commodores tie it up 13-13. Wildcats go ahead with the lead but Vandy ties it up once again, 20-20. Vanderbilt with the lead over Kentucky, 25-23. Commodores still have a lead over the Cats and will hold a lead going into the half, 35-28.
Vanderbilt start the second half and Kentucky can’t seem to score as the Dores are up by 10 but Richards adds two more as he had no point in the first half. Cats down by 7, as they look to add to their score to regain the lead. Nate Sestina with a 3 and Ashton Hagans with a basket and free throw put the Cats back in this game. Kentucky has cut it down to just one after EJ Montgomery scored and goes to the line getting his free throw. Wildcats take back the lead but Vanderbilt is staying close. Kentucky makes a comeback in the second half to win 71-62.
Kentucky travels to Auburn Arena to take on the 17th ranked Auburn Tigers at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN
