It’s not surprising that the first commit for the 2021 class is from Ohio or that he had some big time offers. That’s just what Stoops and his crew do. Devon Williams comes from Dublin, Ohio and the same high school as former Cat Gunnar Hoak. The 6’1″ 215 lb. linebacker had offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, and many others. I’d expect that list to grow as the process continues for Williams as well. There were no outside linebackers in the 2020 class and the notable players Williams will be playing behind on the depth chart include Xavier Peters, Jordan Wright, Jared Casey, and JJ Weaver. Once Williams gets on campus it looks like there will be an opportunity for him to work his way onto the field and by the time he becomes a junior we could be looking at our primary playmaker at the outside linebacker position. This is just the beginning for what will more than likely shape up to be another great recruiting class for Kentucky.
