Florida snaps losing streak and Kentucky’s undefeated home streak with comeback victory

Kentucky looks to keep the momentum going after a win over Missouri as they host Florida this afternoon, they will once again be without Rhyne Howard.

Kentucky can’t seem to score, so Florida scores first and then Kentucky gets on the board, 2-2. Easy basket for the Gators and they go up 4-2. Jaida Roper has all of Kentucky’s 6 points for them to tie up with Florida, 6-6. Chasity Patterson makes both free throws to give Kentucky the lead. Roper and Patterson extend the Wildcat lead with free throws, 13-9. Technical on Florida’s coach send Kentucky back to the free throw line for two more made and the lead is now 6, 15-9. Kentucky with the lead after one quarter, 17-9.

Once again we start the quarter with no one able to seem to score with almost 2 minutes of play. KeKe McKinney ends the scoring drought in the second half, and Chasity Patterson pick-pockets a Florida player to score again for Kentucky. Florida finally gets some points at the free throw line. KeKe McKinney with a 3 for Kentucky, the first of the game, Cats up 24-10. Wildcats up at the half 29-19.

Kentucky starts the third quarter on a basket and Florida goes on a 7-0 run. Kentucky cuts the run scoring a few points of their own until Florida with their second three of the half, 35-29. Kentucky hits a 3, Florida gets one of their own. Kentucky still has the lead, 41-37. Gators cut it down to just two with yet another 3, 41-39. Wildcats with a 46-43 lead, after 3 quarters.

Kentucky has only made 2 of their last 4 free throw attempts to start the fourth quarter along with a basket by Chasity Patterson after she stole the ball. Another 1 of 2 free throw for the Cats, but Florida with a 3 and two free throws, 51-48. Florida within 2 again and they take the lead, 54-53. Gators able to extend their lead over Kentucky, 60-54. Florida comes back to get the victory snapping their five game losing streak and revenge after Kentucky defeated Florida by 20 in Gainesville last month. Florida wins 70-62. This is Kentucky’s first home loss of the season and snaps their undefeated streak at Memorial Coliseum.

Kentucky can bounce back after this lost on Thursday as they host Alabama at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.
