Kentucky hosts 6th ranked Mississippi State at Memorial Coliseum and look to get back on track after their loss against Arkansas last Sunday.
Mississippi State scores first and they are up to a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter. Ogechi Anyagaligbo gets the first basket for the Cats to put them on the board, 6-2. A 3 from Sabrina Haines cuts the Lady Bulldogs lead to one, 6-5. Jaida Roper gets both free throws for Kentucky to take the lead. Wildcats on a 9-0 run to have a 9-6 lead. Cats extend their lead to 16-9. Buzzer beater 3 from Rhyne Howard to give the Cats a 19-9 lead after one quarter.
Mississippi State with a 3 to start the second quarter, but Kentucky keeps the lead as Rhyne Howard hits another 3 for a 24-16 lead for the Cats. Cats are now up 30-16. They go into halftime with a 35-32 lead.
Rhyne Howard starts the third quarter with a basket to get her 1,000 and 1,001 points in just her sophomore season; she is the second fastest in UK program history to reach this standard behind Valerie Still. Kentucky with a 40-37 lead halfway through the third quarter. A 3 pointer from Jaida Roper gives the Cats a 49-39 lead. Amanda Paschal with a 3 for the Cats to have a 54-41 lead with less than a minute in the third. Rhyne Howard with a 3 and the Cats will have a 57- 41 after three.
Kentucky goes on a 4-0 run to start the fourth quarter and they are up 61-41. Miss State goes on a 6-0 run to make it 61-47. Kentucky finally scores again after a drought. Cats are up 65-55.Kentucky upsets Mississippi State 73-62.
