Kentucky defeats Florida 65-59

Kentucky is coming off a big road win over LSU but they suffered injuries in the second half. Nick Richards hurt his ankle, and Ashton Hagans contused his left thigh. Richards finished the game but Hagans did not. They were both listed as day to day following the game Tuesday but didn’t practice Thursday. We will find out at game time or even before if we will be with or without these two irreplaceable players.

Florida gets the first points of the game but Kentucky is right behind them get a basket. Cats up 6-2 after a basket by EJ Montgomery. Immanuel Quickley makes both free throws to make it 8-2 for the Cats. Kerry Blackshear with a 3 for Florida, 8-5. Layup by Blackshear and a free throw, Gators tie it up 8-8. Nate Sestina with a bucket and the Cats go up 12-8. Wildcats with a bucket to make it 14-8, but Gators with a 3 to make it 14-11. Kentucky with a 21-20 lead, Florida with a 3 pointer to take the lead back. Kentucky ties it and then gets free throw to take the lead back but Florida takes it back, 25-24.Wildcats and Gators tied at the half at 31-31 after Florida hits a 3 pointer before the buzzer.

Florida starts the second half, Nick Richards answers for Kentucky, 33-33. Florida takes the lead back and are up by 5, 38-33. Kentucky still trails 40-36. Kentucky goes on an 8-0 run to have a 41-40 lead but Florida takes it back 42-41. They make it 44-41. Kentucky will tie it up 44-44 with a 3 from Immanuel Quickley. Back to back 3’s from Immanuel Quickley has Kentucky up by 6, 50-44. Nick Richards adds to it with a basket, 52-44. Florida finally scores after not scoring since Kentucky tied up at 44, they cut the lead to 6, 52-44. Gators to hit a 3 to be within 3 of Kentucky, 52-49.Kentucky defeats Florida 65-59 after trailing for most of the 1st half and part of the 2nd half.

 Kentucky travels to College Station, TX to takes on Texas A &M this Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN
